FAVE LOOKS: CLOVER CANYON FALL 13

3.5.2013

Walking into the Clover Canyon presentation was like entering a Winter Palace in Russia.  Where ballerinas embraced fashion and danced around in their fancy bunheads and slippers.  For Fall 2013 Clover Canyon turned homeage to Russia and inspired by excessiveness and radicalness. Russian details are seen through the collection, with influence from The Hermitage to Kazimir Malevich’s graphic Constructivism, as well as the siberian plain and Russian ballet.  This was obvious as many of the models were wearing crystal embellished ballet shoes, and striking little ballet poses in them as well! I was obsessed over the voluminous beehive up-dos, a new twist for the top bun. Their trademark hand-engineered prints were suited perfectly on voluminous A-line skirts and dresses. Each outfit was heavily exposed with a theme. I fell in love with the swan one, only practical since it goes along with my name! As well as a wild horse print on a tee and pants, that was a graphical art-deco sensation.  Beautiful embroideries on white crisp shirts and dresses added the magic touch. Design in LA, adds the perfect combination to a strong artistic collection, a little california free spirit. Clover Canyon is also produced here, for me  who likes to support local production whenever as possible, I’d say hands up all around!
