NYFW: Back Stage Cynthia Rowley x Dermelect

3.15.2014

Backstage during Fashion Week I couldn’t help but be obsessed by these rainbow fun nails created by Celebrity Manicurist Elle for Dermelect ‘ME’ at the Cynthia Rowley Fall Presentation. Elle explains Cynthia’s key word for describing her inspiration of the collection was ‘moonbows’, a reflection on the romanticism of her sporty chic line for the Fall 2014 season. Elle took Cynthia’s vision and created her version of the moonbow. Representing a rainbow of darker shades not using any primary colors.  For the look Elle layered two shades from the same color family on one nail, beginning with a dark red to orange, yellow, green, indigo and purple to achieve the perfect ‘moonbow’.

Fave Looks: Calla Fall 15

3.6.2014

Obsessed over Calla’s collection for Fall 15!  Designer Calla Haynes used the story “a heartbroken Parisian girl goes to Nashville to become a country music star”.  She used her dog “lilybear” as part of the inspiration.  Making it into a graphic print and patches on cardigans and sweatshirts. Cute little frocks get an update with sheer sleeves and midriffs. Keeping strong with the sweatshirt trend was a cute one “lilybear” on the front. Adorbs.  CallaFall6

Fave Looks: Tome

9.17.2013

It was like stepping into a ballet performance at the New York Fashion Week Tome presentation.  But instead of dramatic dancers the clothes took the stage.  A delicious palette of bubble gum and sherbert colors  mixed with lots of sheen and sheer. Drapey soft silhouettes that were very modern mixed with the classic voluminous shapes of the 1950’s.  I couldn’t help but think of Audrey Hepburn. Not just because of the classic trench coat, but because she used to be a professional ballet dancer. Not sure if that is what the designer’s Ryan Lobo and Ramon Martin were going for, but if so…they nailed it!  tomenewyork1
