Musette Monday: Priscilla Presley

12.19.2012

From my early childhood I had watched every single Elvis movie that existed. I must of seen Elvis + Me a kzillion times, based on Priscilla Presley’s novel on their life together.  Not necessarily in the shadow of the King, Priscilla evolved into a Style Icon.  Born in Germany, Elvis found Priscilla as an innocent 16 year old.  Soon the young Priscilla was transformed into a sophisticated siren by the King’s side.  In the 60’s and 70’s you would find Priscilla in her hip hugging mini’s, adorned blouses, high hair and heavy smoked eyes. Today you can see a little bit of Priscilla Presley in starlets such as Amy Winehouse and Lana DelRay.  I hosted a Country themed Christmas Party, so it only seemed natural I would be Priscilla, the Queen of Graceland.

Musette Monday: Grimes

10.2.2012

I was a little and getting a chance to watch the Grimes video Genesis. I was already in love with the song, but now I understand the obsession craze I heard about the video.  It seems to be 90s rave chic-meets-Japanese teen-meets-today.   In other words a bit nostalgic but very new.  The Oblivion video is amazing too. And yes I want to add some of these pieces to my wardrobe too! Especially this sailor wonder piece, LOVE!

Musette Monday: Sydney Andrews

8.20.2012

Oh….Sidney!! The beloved charachter from 1992 Melrose Place.  Sydney Andrews played by Laura Leighton is a carefree young woman always questioning herself and seamlessly getting into trouble.  Her style definitely won me over when she entered the scene inher bad girl 90’s style. Leather jackets, beret’s, studded belts, oversized patchwork and floral dresses along with her doc marten’s. Yes. Yes. Yes.

Musette Monday: Jessie from Saved By The Bell.

7.31.2012

When it comes to shopping for fall I will definitely have Jessie from Saved by the Bell in mind.  Not only was she a super earthy and passionate character. But her clothes reflected that nature of her personality.  Earth tone colors of bronze, plums and hunter greens.  And romantic prints and shapes. After all this explosion of color just a little more muted coloring seems only fitting. Floral prints mixed with chiffon, fringe jackets, just a dash of country western meets Navajo and yes…romantic lace + crochet. All of that please!

Musette Monday: Claudia Schiffer

7.10.2012

It’s not just about angelic looks with Claudia Schiffer, she was a smooth-running German business machine as Mr. Karl Lagerfeld would say.   Smart girls always win, don’t they 🙂 Recently the new face of Guess Jeans, the bombshell beauty is back.
