The height of summer.

I’ve been obsessed with the mini buns lately. My new signature look for summer. Along with the new red glasses which I am not so sure about yet. It is taking sometime : ) When I tried on this skirt from Tibi it was instantly a winner. First because it was hight waisted and second because it was A-line. All I want lately is A-line skirts, must be part of the 90’s addiction I have had recently. It hasn’t been much of a summer for me yet…..I know, but work has been intense. I have been taking a bit of stay-cation though here in the ‘burg. And on this particular day I started it out with a swim at the pool and lunch at Mothers with a dear blogger friend Michael of mine. There were a few other adventures that happened that day and you can see it here in his recap of the day. In between all of that I did a little redecorating of the apartment. Which to be honest has taken all of my free time lately. So much for a stay-cation!

I call this my Bill approved dress. A thumbs up by the cutie Mr. Cunningham is always a good thing. I just wish I was the one taking a photo of him that night at the Brooklyn Museum instead of me, he was painfully adorable! I am obsessed with this Sonia by Sonia Rykiel dress that I got on ShopBop. The print is so arty and 60’s, and I love that it is just slightly a-line so that it is still fitting but yet very breathable for a hot summer day. I stopped for an Iced Coffee at one of my favorite little places on Graham Avenue here in Williamsburg. They claim to have the “best ice coffee” in New York. Whichi’m sure is true, but what I adore about it is that it doesn’t look like it has changed since the 1950’s. Total mom and pop!

So this last weekend I was lucky to attend a beautiful 1920s themed wedding. A few post back I mentioned I looked to it-girl of the 20s, Clara Bow for inspiration. I didn’t want to be to costume-y. So I went with a “elegant + chic with a dash of retro” theme. I made my headpiece with feathers, tulle + little white flowers. I definitely had fun with this theme, and i think everyone else did too, so many fun hats!

If you have read my about section, you know i put a call out to The Roebling Tea Room. One of my fave spots in Brooklyn. Spring afternoons I definitely love to come here and sketch my little heart out. It is rare to find such huge spaces in New York, and the fact that they played the whole album of Hall + Oates Greatest. Well that is what got me. You have to take advantage of the places you love in NYC, all of a sudden they could be gone, is it really true about Don Hills??

Yesterday was perfect bike weather. I rode in from the ‘burg to do some errands and a lil shopping in SoHo. Loved every minute of it. Here are some pics….I am really into mixing prints these days.
