The Lake & The Stars: Fall 2011

It was a little chilly yesterday in New York, and so of course Fall is on my mind, layering of clothes and what we will be wearing underneath them! Back in February…I fell in love with the pieces from The Lake & The Stars Fall 2011 presentation. Each piece has amazing detail and couldn’t help myself but think of the very first bra’s ever so I included a few with the glorious vintage ads of them as well! Did you know the very first modern bra emerged in 1913? Mary Phelps Jacob was so annoyed with the boning of her corset sticking into her. So she took a couple of silk hankerchiefs and ribbon with some cord….and ta da….the beginning of modern day lingerie!
